Saturday saw the ladies 1s travel to Herne Bay for the first league game of the season. Herne Bay were the first team out of the blocks and scored within the first few minutes. New Beccs rallied well and started to string passes together, resulting in Sam slotting the ball past the keeper with a nice reverse stick shot. New Beccs absorbed a lot of pressure in defence with Jess pulling off some great saves.

The second half saw end to end play with both teams having multiple shots on goal. Herne Bay converted an opportunity to take the lead which we responded to immediately. A long ball out from defence straight to Sam who took the keeper on and claimed her second goal. The rest of the half saw both teams battling to take the 3 points, Herne Bay being denied their third goal by the cross bar. At the final whistle both teams agreed that it was a hard fought game, especially under the hot afternoon sun.

Special mention goes to Izzy Rose and Lily Ridout for making their 1s debut with both girls showcasing their great potential for the future. A great team effort all round with 7 of the team receiving at least 1 Man of the Match vote. Well played everyone and good to get our first point in the bag.
