Return to Hockey - COVID-19 guidelines

Update from  our chairman
Just this last Thursday we had a committee meeting to prepare for the upcoming season. Fortuitously a couple of hours before that meeting England Hockey announced that they had moved to Stage 5 which is effectively a full  return to competitive league hockey. This is great news as otherwise we would be limited to only playing ‘local’ friendlies.
Not everything is normal though. The social side of hockey will be severely limited. HSBC is not yet open to non members and as such we will be playing home games away from our normal ground until such time as the HSBC Astro becomes bookable again. In addition we will not be providing opposition teas at HSBC and unfortunately we will not enjoy similar hospitality when we travel. There are some very limited changes to the actual game. For example ‘not picking up the ball’ as I hope most would not anyway!. And finally new track and trace record keeping requirements.
Please can you make sure that you cooperate with the new rules and guidance. Your captains will brief you before each game. Please help making their lives easier

Mens 2's win promotion

During trying times I am pleased to report some good news, that New Beccs Mens 2s have successfully managed to secure promotion by finishing 2nd in their league, just missing out on top spot on goal difference.

Unfortunately we don't know where that league will be due to the changes proposed by UK Hockey and the ongoing discussions, but whichever league it is they will rise to the challenge and be raring to go in September!

Mabbs Fundraising Challenge for MIND

As you may or may not know our very own Mabbs (Matt Abbott) is raising funds for the Mental Health Charity MIND this year.

He has done this by going for a whole year without alcohol, something that not many people would attempt for one month let alone a year.  There is now well under 2 months to go in this amazing feat and he is still going strong!

If you want to you can still donate to this very worthwhile cause and anything you can spare will be very much appreciated.

Details of his justgiving page are below:

Thank you!!
